Kimora and the kiddies are back in the NY this week for Baby Phat's Fashion Show at NY Fashion Week. Say what you want about Kimora, but I love the way she devotes her time with those kids. Here's to hoping and praying that she gets another season of Life In The Fab Lane

Nelly and Ashanti were spotted at the opening of her Broadway play "The Wiz" last week. So as usual the rumors are untrue and these two are still "good friends".

Kimora's Baby Shower

St. Louis native Kimora Lee Simmons recently celebrated the upcoming birth of her son with a baby shower. OK Magazine was there for exclusive pictures of the happy couple, also pictured are her two kids from previous marriage with hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons.

Ced Trying To Creep In Your Livingroom

It's being reported that our hometown boy Ced is shopping around a new television show with Donald Faison. Man I sure hope so because there aren't a lot of black television shows, and whatever network, DO NOT PUT THIS SHOW ON A FRIDAY NIGHT!!! Yeah I'm still pissed at CW for putting The Game on Fridays.

Between The Sheets

Mo and Quan have been an item for almost 10 years. Quan and his sidechick and secret baby mama, Sherry, have dealt with each other for about 3 years. To Quan, each woman has something different to offer, and he "needs" them both. Mo, a college-educated young lady with upper middle class status, lost her mother as a teenager. Mo spent her teenage years mourning her mother's death and craving attention. She thought she found that in Quan but he wants the one thing that Mo can't give him, a child. Sherry is an around-the-way project chick who wants to become Quan's main girl. Sherry is at Quan's disposal and she knows that if she just hold on a little longer (and use her child) she can get to the top spot. However Sherry is growing tired of her child being a secret she wants St. Louis to know she is the chick with Quan's seed. Torn is a story that many women have faced: to be or not to be with that certain man. The moral to this story is that sometimes the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Other times you will find yourself wishing and praying that you could go back to the life that you thought you didn't want. The author, St. Louis native Keisha Ervin, had me with this one. To date I have read Torn 5 times. I must warn you to grab some tissue because this book will definitely have you shedding a few tears.

APPLE BOTTOMS IN DUBAI??

Nelly was in Dubai last week opening an Apple Bottom store at the Dubai Mall. I have to admit I laughed when I first saw this post. In Dubai? Seriously? I guess so, I mean who am I to hate a man for making some money. But Dubai? I can just see all the little kids ditching their traditional garments for the latest Apple Bottom hoochie wear. I meant fashion forward clothing.

STL Black History: Chuck Berry

Chuck Berry was born here in St. Louis. Raised on the north side he attended Sumner High. Chuck left St. Louis with his guitar and a sound that would soon change the world. At the time they were not sure how to classify his music, so it was put in a category of its own, Rock & Roll. Early on several of his records were stolen by white artist to sell to the white crowd. Chuck and his unique sound soon were able to break color barriers and he was playing to a mixed audience. He was arrested at the height of his career and watched as Elvis Presley, The Beetles, and The Rolling Stones became mega stars by emulating his style. He was one of the first musicians inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Although Berry's life has been somewhat plagued by legal problems, his continuing performances in front of a sold out audience shows that his gift of music is one of a kind.

Solid As A Rock?

So we haven't been seeing Nelly and Shani-Poo together lately, but they showed up in Arizona for the all-star weekend. Thank God that was a wig Ashanti had on the other day. All kinds of no thanks for that!

Redd Foxx was born here in St. Louis in the early 20s. At an early age he moved to New York to pursue a career as a comedian. He was one of the best stand up comedians but for a younger generation he is known as Fred Sanford. Sanford and Son was one of the funniest television shows at its time. His classic role in Harlem Nights as Bennie, the blind Old Gangsta. At the time of his death he was starring on another television show, The Royal Family, with close friend Della Reese. Ironically he died on the set of a heart attack. Redd Foxx was most famous for clutching his chest and faking a heart attack on the television show Sanford and Son. He was honored by the city of St. Louis for a star on St. Louis Walk of Fame in the Delmar Loop.

STL Celebrity Sighting: Nelly and City Spud

While I was at home waiting to see one representative from the Lou show up at the Grammys, Nelly was in the ATL kicking it for the weekend. Seeing as that he wasn't nominated and he currently doesn't have anything on the airwaves. Nelly opted to stay away from the LA festivities. City Spud was also seen in the clubs with Nelly. They really look alike to me.

Maya Angelou was born in St. Louis on April 4th 1928. After her parents separation when she was just a toddler she was sent to live with her grandmother in Arkansas. She remained there until her father came and returned Angelou back to her mother in St. Louis. Although childhood tragedies like being molested by her mother's boyfriend (who was later murdered) Angelou stopped talking out of fear that her voice was the reason he died because she told on him. In her autobiography I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, she speaks of her life in an effort to reveal some of her past demons. The book brought her national success. Since then Angelou has written a serious of autobiographies as well as poetry, plays, and public speaking. Her collection of poems in Just Give Me A Cool Drink Of Water Fore I Diiie was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. She has more than thirty honorary degrees and she was given a Presidential Medal Of Arts.
