BREAKING NEWS: AJ killed in ATL

UPDATE: Voluntary Manslaughter Charges have been filed against Fredrick Richardson and he is currently in the hospital recovering from his own injuries from the incident that killed Jewell.

Real Housewife Kandi of the popular Bravo series always talks about the support from her Fiance "AJ" and the storyline follows the 2 of them throughtout the show, now we are hearing that the man she planned to marry was killed in ATL today at the Body Tap a strip club. This story is still developing and I just heard from some a source in ATL that is close to the street that while not charged the police and everyone near may already know who did the killing. I will keep you posted as more details come.

We first heard the news from Blogger GYANT

The deadly truth about Pancreatic Cancer

He grabbed my attention when he danced all over the big screen in Dirty Dancing but it was the movie Ghost that made me a fan of actor Patrick Swayze. After almost a 2 year battle with pancreatic cancer Swayze died today. While many blogs are giving you the news about Patrick I have a more personal story to tell.

It was Fall of 2004 and I remember a neighbor coming to my job to tell me that my uncle (who I lived next door to) didn't look to well and had been in his car sitting for over an hour. I ran (i could run then) and talked Uncle Charles (pictured right with me, Jami B.) out of the car and onto the steps of his apartment. Halfway up I knew he wouldn't make it and instructed him to have a seat. He didn't have any children and was never married and my mother was out of town so it was up to me to figure out what my next move was. Not knowing what to do I called 911, and after some complaints my uncle finally decided to get into the ambulance. I'm glad he did because after a short stay in the hospital and a return for more test, results showed that my Uncle Charles had cancer. Just years after my dad had battled and beat prostate cancer I went in like oh cancer, thats all, we can beat this thing. Then the doctor said he has Pancreatic Cancer and said it in a tone of such seriousness that I immediately knew that this Cancer wasn't going to be a simple fight and eventually we would lose the battle. And less than 3 months later, after my entire family put on boxing gloves and got in the ring, we lost the battle, and our Uncle Charles. It was the first time we lost a close family member to cancer and proved to be just the start of a long lasting relationship my family would have with the disease.

I tell this story not to take the spotlight away from Patrick Swayze but to let people know that this thing called CANCER is a beast. It is something that could be as close to claiming the life of your favorite actor, favorite uncle or even a friend. If you know someone battling cancer right now, understand that while treatment is getting better, there is still a risk and those living with Cancer need your support. Sorry if this was too long for our daily readers or not as humorous as we may be but this was important for me to share. Thank you for allowing me to share my personal story with you. Its Cancer people. It's a terrible disease and we all must do what we can to help find a CURE.

DJ AM survives Plane Crash but dies of overdose?

Just 11months ago DJ AM survived a plane crash  with Travis Barker. The 2 were the only survivors in a crash that killed four who were riding with the popular DJ and drummer.  After friends hadn't heard from Adam Goldstein in days, police found him dead in his New York apartment on Friday evening. With past public addictions to pills, and cocaine their is a large suspicion that the DJ that once dated Nicole Richie died of an overdose and there are rumors that empty pill bottles and a cocaine (not crack...it's cocaine when you rich) pipe were found next to the 36 year old deejay.

Another day and another long wait for toxicology reports. While we wait on the results to find out what really took DJ AM away do you think he's in heaven working with MJ on a mix tape with special appearances from Eazy E, Pac, Biggie, and a comedic interlude from Bernie Mac?

TOPHER a.k.a. "Birthday King"

I'm going to go ahead and crown Tohpher the Birthday weekend king. This weekend Jones who is one of the brains behind Derrty ENT, will celbrate his Birthday over a 2 day stretch. Now I can't front like Topher's Ego doesn't catch me off gurad each and everytime I hear him speak but while his Ego may be large so are his ideas about business and life so make sure you come out and help him celebrate his birthday. This is one weekend you don't want to miss out on.

It goes down Saturday for the kickoff hosted by Murphy Lee and ladies are free before 11 so there is no excuse for you budget chicks not to be there. Everybody and they momma will be in the house and you already know Topher brings out the stars groupies Get. Ready. Set. Go!
Busch Stadium is going to see a whole lot of brown in a sea of Red on Sunday because for $40 you can get your Cardinal ticket which will also grant you admittance to the Day Party at Black Label following the game and one free drink. Charlie Chan will be doing what he does best so make sure you get out of church early and join the fun with the grown folks as we party mid afternoon on Sunday in our Cardinals gear.

SIDE NOTE: Can somebody tell Topher that once this birthday party is over he needs to call up somebody's production team and start filming his reality show because either I've just caught him on a whole lot of funny days or this brotha is really a natural born fool...funny fool that is.

E. LYNN HARRIS dead at 54

He sparked a new energy into book clubs when he hit the scene in the 90's with one famous football playing bi-sexual character, John BASIL Henderson. If you've ever read a E. Lynn Harris book you either love or hate Basil and from the great illustrations that Harris would draw with the words in his books, you felt like you knew all about the life of Basil. Harris sparked life into many as they rushed to get his books the moment his faithful readers knew it stores. The man who gave life to characters through his dynamic writing skills, was found dead at the age of 54 in Beverly Hills, CA. Details on how Harris died have not yet been made public but I'm sure folks already coming up with their own story on how this openly gay author some call the "author of bisexual books" died. We are saddened by this news and will keep his family in our prayers.

We recently did a post about his latest book "Basketball Jones" and it was dynamic read for sure. What was your favorite E. Lynn Harris book of all time and what was your take on the infamous Basil?

Steve McNair Dead at 36

He was the star quaterback for the Tennesse Titans when the Rams won (way back when they were winning games)  Super Bowl XXXIV over the Nashville team. McNair who played for Alcorn State before being drafted was found dead in a appartment in Nasville Tennesse on Saturday afternoon along 2o year old Sahel Kazemi female who some are claiming to be the girlfriend of McNair. According to news reports McNair was known to frequent the condo where he was found with mulitple gun shot wounds including one to the head. The condo is in the name of the 20 year old victim who is suspected to have killed McNair before turning the gun on herself.

While most scorned women are looking at this situation as a lesson to all cheating dogs but we have to remember McNair still had a wife, Mechelle and four sons who are now grieving over the loss of their husband and father. After a 12 year marriage and the 2 sons they had together, Mechelle now has to plan a funeral for her husband and sort through the lies, and mystery and possible double life her former all-american, pro-bowl, professional NFL player husband was living.

Is this just another tragic death of a celebrity or
karma showing you just what's capable of?

..:::KING OF POP DIES:::...

I am at a complete loss of words. This, like all deaths, was one that nobody was prepared for. I can't believe that it is true. Had it not been for this man there would be no Usher, Chris Brown, Omarion, and a host of other singers and dancers. In plenty of today's videos you can see the heavy influence that Michael Jackson had on their careers. Our thoughts and prayers are completely with the Jackson family at this sad time. Say what you want about Mike but there is no denying that he was the extreme cross over star. He started heavily with an R&B background with Motown Records. After leaving the Jackson 5 he embarked on a solo career that many could only dream to have. He had so many hits that it is hard to narrow down which one is our favorite. But we would love to know WHICH MICHAEL JACKSON SONG IS YOUR FAVORITE EVER?

Notch turns 25

He's worked with Murphy Lee, Tiffany Evans Pimp C, Mims, Ebony Eyez, Bun-B, Spiffy and many other artist, but in STL his most popular work as one of the hottest producers was his work with Hakeem Tha Dream for the hit "Thick Wit It". He's well respected in the music business and does his part to make sure that his work is noticed. But today this multi-genre music producer is getting love from us because he has hit an important milestone in his life. RONNIE NOTCH IS 25. That's right he's a step closer to 30 and halfway to 50...lol. He may work hard all year long but today Notch is taking a break from his music grind to celebrate his 25th Birthday. Tonight he will be at the Skybox for a FREE so you already know you need to get there early. Sunday things get a little Bad as he teams up with the Mista DJ for the Gemini Edition, Bikini Birthday Bash at the Venue.

Before you attend the Bikini Birthday Bash please check out this video (don't click this link at work or if you are not prepared to see extreme stripper like talent) and be sure that your body is ready for a bikini....otherwise just wear a cover up or a cute dress. Please and Thanks.

STL SUPPORT

While listening to Staci Static Thursday on Hot 104.1 I heard Arvin Mitchell talk about a benefit that would be at the House of Comedy on Sunday for his sister who was killed in a car accident. In case you can't make that event please just make sure you keep the family of Ebony Minnis-Mitchell in your prayers. The family is also in need of contributions that can be made to any Bank of America. Please visit this site that was set up in her memory. While nobody should ever die for others to learn a lesson, I'm hoping that we can all learn something about this because the driver that hit her car ran a red light. So the next time you think you can make it or think you are in such in a hurry that you can't stop, think about the life lost of Ebony Minnis-Mitchell and stop.

2PAC vs BIGGIE

No matter who's hot right now, the biggest question in Hip-Hop will forever be "2PAC or BIGGIE?" This hot topic can cause friends to fight and marriages to end, because no matter which one gets your vote you can't deny that they are 2 of the greatest rappers ever. So when LME decided to have a "2PAC vs BIGGIE" party on Friday at Black Label they knew it would get folks talking and hopefully hyped enough to attend the Birthday Party of LME partner Otto Nichols. If you see Otto around make sure you tell him HAPPY BIRTHDAY and I wonder does would he say 2PAC or BIGGIE?
It goes down at Black Label Lounge on Friday 10pm - midnight but we are about to start this battle a little early. Which one do you think is the best and if they were still alive right now how would they rank against the current rappers that are out?

2PAC or BIGGIE?

STL is going GREEN

The city will go GREEN this weekend as St. Lunatics member Kyjuan celebrates his Birthday. The theme may be the same as in years past but this year it goes down 3 nights in a row for the birthday boy. I'm looking forward to these events cause I've had these lime green leather tights that I have been dying to wear. Well maybe I will save those for another time but you better believe suiteSTL will be in the house and snapping pics of all the green.ATTENTION FEMALES GROUPIES: The parties are FREE so you don't have to turn any tricks for the security guards to get in. Save up that energy for the Derrty Ent vs Loosecannon Ent Celebrity Basketball game on May 8th. Wait, that's for chairty so please don't go asking them for tickets to the game, you get your tickets now.

ATTENTION MALE GROUPIES: Leave your demo CD at home and let that man celebrate his birthday in peace without you trying to get signed to a label all in the party. And fellows you get in free all night so all you need is money for your drinks and you too can feel like a baller even if you are on a budget.

CHINGY Check-In

We told you all that Lush was doing it big the entire month of March with celebrities every weekend and tonight will be no different. St. Louis native Chingy will be celebrating his birthday at Lush, where ladies get in free before 11, wait a minute that flyer says EVERYBODY FREE ALL NIGHT LONG! Did the folks at LUSH get some of that government bailout money or what? I didn't even know you could afford to do anything for FREE with this crazy economy. I guess this is all part of the Slimulus Package.

Chingy plans to party all weekend cause we hear he is also having a party at HOME (inside AmeriStar) Nightclub on Saturday night as well. They didn't get their bailout check just yet so you will be paying after you cross that bridge into St. Charles. Fellas are $20 and ladies are just $10. I might just roll up in HOME too....ok probably not cause I don't like overrated clubs who don't know how to treat everybody the same. If you do go, please report back and let us know if you had a good time or not.

Big B's B-day Party

St. Louis native Big B celebrated his birthday party Wednesday night at Society. (real heavy sigh) OK maybe I just may be to grown for the crowd but Lord that club needs a serious crowd makeover. The night started off wrong when St. Louis finest wouldn't let people valet park. So after finding a spot not close enough to Society we tried to get our pretty girls walk on. We get to the line and once again St. Louis finest are rude and very disrespectful. Making us wait at least 45 minutes before we got into the club. What a culture shock it was as soon as I stepped through the door. STL we have got to do better fashion wise. Ladies you can be sexy without looking skanky and fellas please at least wear a clean t-shirt if you don't want to dress up. The highlight of the night was when Miami rapper Ric Ross took the stage. He performed various songs and really had the crowd rocking. U City was definitely in the building celebrating with the birthday boy. Murphy Lee was parlaying within the crowd as if he doesn't crack out hits on the airwaves. Noticeably absent was the rapper who B protects with his life everyday, but that's neither here nor there I guess. I hear that he is working on a reality show so let that be the reason he couldn't attend. I must admit that the random groupies were on Murphy and he wasn't paying them any mind. All in all I guess you could say it was a nice event, but I wouldn't recommend Society unless you are 25 and younger. I also would like to tell the owners that St. Louis City police officers do not make great bouncers. SMH that I even went!

.

Big B and friends walking through the crowd

Ric Ross doing his thing on stage, he really gave a good show
.
You couldn't get a close up of Murph thanks to all the hopeful groupies
You know a party aint a party without our girl Icee.
St. Louis native Tiffany stopped through to party

CHECK IN: Mocha Latte & Chris Draft

HAPPY BIRTHDAY goes out to Rams Linebacker Chris Draft and Mocha Latte of Monopoly Promotions.

We know the Rams are having a, how shall I say this, tough, no rough, well the Rams haven't been doing that well but Chris Draft is a superstar in my eyes. This brother has been doing some great things in St. Louis and is dedicated to the St. Louis community although not a native. This brother didn't waste anytime on giving back. He also is working with my of my favorite groups, Smoke-Free St. Louis.

If you have ever partied in St. Louis then you know that Mocha Latte throws some of the best events in town. I remember the first time I saw her do poetry back at Raw Sugar (side note: I miss raw sugar) and she got up on stage and did a piece that left everyone in the room in shock with her skills. She's done it all and there is a reason that they call her the Queen of Promotions. Friday night she will have one of the biggest celebrations in town with her All-star Birthday Bash at Lush. Special Guest will be Ron Brownz and hosted by Boogie D.

T.I. gives back in STL

Compton Drew Middle School Student, Taylor got a chance to take a picture with T.I. because of her outstanding work in school and in the community.

While you may know T.I. best for his lyrics, this platinum selling rapper is dedicated to giving back in each city he visits. We were on hand today as he stopped by Compton Drew Middle School and Job Corp to give a positive message to students. T.I. has certainly learned from his mistakes and is using the time he has now to spread not just his story but the lessons he had to learn the hard way on to area youth.
T.I. with Erica Jones who is also celebrating her 30th Birthday. Erica is one of our readers and to say to thank you we made sure she got a chance to meet T.I.

R.I.P. - Rodney Winfield

As we ask our readers to vote for the STL's best comedian we are saddened to learn that one of the best that ever hit the stage, Rodney Winfield has passed away. Winfield who lived in St. Louis was 76 years old apparently has passed away from complications dealing with his Kidneys. If you were ever lucky enough to see Winfield on stage then you know he didn't hold any punches and always spoke his mind and never held back no matter what stage he was on. I still remember the last time I saw him. Last summer in the Central West End he was wearing his signature sailor hat and looking cool with just enough swagger to make all the young girls turn they head and give him some attention. He stopped at our table exchanged a few words making us all laugh and off he went strolling down Euclid. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers.
