Thursday Night Throwdown

With House of Comedy in it's new location, JE Ent will continue bringing you Soul Sessions, and I'm thinking being on Washington the crowd may pick up for them. With a $5 cover you can get some reggae, neo soul, comedy, spoken word and maybe some praise dancers. OK maybe not the praise dancers but I do know they have a wide variety of entertainment so check out this low key event. New location of House of Comedy on Washington and 20th (just next door to The City).

The Rams will be playing the Chiefs on Thursday (and yes you can still get tickets). And we know Liquid Assets loves to put a theme behind Red Hott Thursdays so go get you some of the KC vs STL edition hosted by "Randy McMichael and all his teammates." OK groupies you know what this means, money will be in the building so wear your tightest low cut dress and see if you can become a baby mama before Christmas.

My first stop will be at Groove Theory so I can help those men of FreeTime say goodbye to their successful Thursday Night event at EXO. They've been doing it for a while but all good things must come to an end. Don't think that this is the end of Free Time, they are working hard on the their next event already. Think New Jack City in St. Louis, you know how they do it.

Check The Label

Packed like Club Façade in 1998, BLACK LABEL was filled with everybody and they play cousin on Saturday for Precision LLC, SYGU and Liquid Assets joint party “Day & Night.” For $10 you got some decent music (the DJ was average) and a comedy show.

I know folks are coming back with some of these trends from the 80’s and 90’s but some of the things I saw on Saturday night really made me feel like I was at Club Façade or Jay’s on The Landing. Straight up Circa 1998. Before the folks at Black Label and the promoters start sending us emails, we not saying that’s a bad thing. Club Façade was always a fun place to be. Never any drama and the folks inside always made you feel like you were at your peoples house for party and Jays on the Landing was known for the wild parties on the patio’s in the 90’s. and Black Label reminded me a lot of those 2 clubs.

We had a good time overall but if these “venues” are going to keep popping up around town and you have a DJ and you want people to actually dance and have a good time, please review your layout and make sure that your flow is right and you have a designated dance floor.

Thursdays Are Red Hott

It seems like the folks over at Liquid Assets don't have any plans on slowing up this summer. When I say blazing hot for the grown and sexy you better believe it. Tonight at Lure nightclub is the Greedy Genius Edition Celebrity Launch Party. The doors open at 10 and the ladies wearing red can expect to drink free until 11. DJ Que will be rocking the crowd. And as I mentioned earlier this is grown and sexy so men please leave the white tees and caps at home.

What are you doing TONIGHT?

Not sure when the secret meeting went down but apparently local promoters have decided to make Thursday's the hottest night in St. Louis. No more waiting until Friday and Saturday nights the party starts tonight and you've got 3 dynamic events to choose from.

No Dress Code, the cost is just $5 and Needles is the DJ. I'm not really sure what else you need to know other than Nubia Cafe is going to pack tonight with those that love them some Old Schol Hip Hope, DanceHall, Nu Soul and all other classics the legendary DJ Needles plays. If the stanky leg is your cup of tea then I'm thinking this won't be the place for you.

Lure and all it's white interior was nice last week when we stopped through after the Jennifer Hudson concert. The crowd was mixed, positive and and plenty of eye candy for the men and ladies. It has a vibe of no other event that I've been to in St. Louis within the last 5 years. I'm thinking we better keep our eye out on Phil and the folks from Liquid Assets cause they are sneaking on the scene and making folks turn heads and take notice.

Everybody may be doing but those men of FreeTime can take the proper credit for starting the trend of making other folks step they game up on Thursday Nights. Groove Theory is at EXO and the crowd that hangs out there just may be favorite. Well I don't know if it's the crowd or the dishes that come out of the kitchen that keep me excited. Whatever the reason I'm there when I can and tonight might just be one of those days. Since Mexico is off the list of vacations spots and you still love you some Tequila get to EXO tonight cause I hear that 1800 Tequila White will be all over the bars.
